Marble Flocking Powder Mani

Evening folks.  If you know me well enough by now, you will know that I definitely got distracted on Sunday after publishing my post.. so I didn't get any extras written up *slaps own wrist* Bad llama!  Anyways, I wrote this up while at work Monday so I could stick the pictures in and publish it as soon as I got home and here were are on Wednesday morning... *sigh*

Today I have for you a mani I did not this past weekend, but the weekend before.  I have been meaning to do this kind of mani for a long time now, ever since I saw it in a picture on Facebook, which I can't for the life of me find now!  I should have pinned it!  This is a "marble" flocking powder mani!

This design is really easy to do (I didn't take "process" pictures, so I will just explain it):
  • Paint your nails one coat of your base colour - I chose to do white.
  • Take your flocking powder colours, and place a little pile of each on a piece of paper close together.
  • Using a toothpick (or dotting tool), gently mix the colours together so that it resembles a marble mani with the colours swirled together rather than completely mixed - you want to be able to see the different colours.
  • Polish the second coat (or clear top coat) of your polish, and then gently press it down into the flocking powder.  I rocked my finger back and forth to get the powder to the side edges of my nails.
  • Gently press the flocking powder down to secure it in the polish and allow to dry.
  • Continue this for all nails, and you've got yourself a marble flocking powder mani!
I will try to remember to do "process" pictures next time I do this :)

I used Martha Stewart flocking powder that Amber from Timeless Topcoats sent me.  It came with 12 little and more manageable-sized containers of coloured flocking powder, and within the powder there was glitter!!  So not only is this a fluffy mani, it's a SPARKLY fluffy mani :D

Then, I decided, because it was stamping week on my Facebook group, that I would stamp over the flocking powder.  .. Say what?!  Haha, I know, something you wouldn't expect with flocking powder, but I saw it here and fell in love with the idea.

I used Julep Brandt and stamping plate M-60 to create a plaid design over the flocking powder.  It reminds me of a nice, toasty warm fleece sweater - perfect for these dreary fall days!  I love the look of stamping over the flocking powder, and will definitely be doing it more.  The only thing I found, whether it's because the polish holding the powder wasn't completely dry, was that the stamper seemed to pick up the flocking powder and it wasn't as fluffy after I applied the stamp.  Next time I will wait longer to apply the stamp to make sure the polish underneath is completely dry :)

What do you think?  Have you tried a flocking powder mani?  What about a marbled flocking powder mani?
