Happy Friday readers!! I have a quick post for you today because I am supposed to be getting ready to head to the cottage for one last weekend away with some friends before the summer is over, though judging by the drastic change in temperature, and the days getting a lot shorter, I think that summer is coming to a close.
I put on a set of the Sally Hansen nail polish strips last night to do a short wear-test with them while I am away at the cottage. I have a couple designs in my drawer, but I chose Fly With Me for this last summer weekend away :D Come check it out!
I really love the butterfly design on the white background, it really makes them pop! These strips are REALLY easy to apply to the nail. It took me no time at all, probably about 15 minutes total - I ate dinner between doing hands - and I had a beautiful, fun and completely dry mani!
First I used my Revlon Gentle Cuticle Remover to push back my cuticles so that the strips would stick to my whole nail, and then sprayed with rubbing alcohol to clean the nail surface. I find that spraying them rather than using an alcohol-soaked cotton ball works better for me because then I don't get little fluffs left behind on the nail.
Then I opened the package - the strips come in 2 packages, one for each hand - and selected the sizes that fit my nails the best. There are 8 different sized strips because everyone has different sized nails. I did have a bit of a tricky time because some were perfectly sized (middle and ring nails), while others weren't. The cuticle edge of my thumb nail is very square, so I used the square-ish end of the strips (they are double ended), but even that wasn't square enough for my nail bed. I think next time I will use some scissors and cut the end of the strip straight across so that it fits my nail shape better. For my pinky nail, I used the smallest strip there was, because I used all the other smaller strips for the rest of my fingers, and it was too skinny for my nail, so there are some uncovered gaps on both sides of the strip. It looks fine from far away though, so that's all that matters :)
I did not apply a top coat to these because the base coat, polish and top coat are all built into each strip. It will be interesting to see what they look like after a weekend at the cottage. They are supposed to last up to 10 days, but even though I only did them last night, I am itching to repolish already, so I'm sure I will be craving a new nail colour by the time I get home! *EDIT* I didn't take a picture, but there was slight tip wear on my nails, but other than that they were not damaged in any way otherwise :) I definitely prefer these over the Jamberry nail shields. I think because they are made from polish that they adhere to the nail better, just my theory anyways.
You can buy these in lots of department stores like WalMart, or in drug stores for around $8-$9. I got these on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart, I don't think I would pay full price for them because you can buy a whole bottle of polish for the same price and get more than one mani out of them. That's only my personal opinion though :)

Have you tried the Sally Hansen nail polish strips? What design did you try, and how did you like them?
They are, aren't they?! I really love the detail of them!
