BornPrettyStore Water Decal Mani

Morning, morning, morning!  It's a beautiful day here in Ontario!  A "balmy" -6°C and a heavy frost all over everything this morning.  I love nothing more than stepping out in to the frosty cold and taking a deep breath of icy coldness :D  I'm whacked, what're ya gonna do?? ;)  PS - T-minus 5 weeks till Christmas Day today!  Be prepared for an onslaught of Christmas nails starting in December!

I have some nails for you guys today that I did quite a few weeks ago for when I went up to a gig my friend's band was doing.  They don't play my kind of music (country bumpkin over here), but I figured on some rock being played so I tried to do a mani that would suit.

I started with 2 coats of Julep Sadie, one of their glittery Sea Salt polishes.  I. Am. In. Love. with this polish!  It's perfect!  Lots of people say that it's close to Zoya Dahlia from the original Pixie Dust collection.  I don't have Dahlia, so I can't do a compare for you guys, but when I compare them in pictures this looks close enough for me that I don't need both :)

Then I applied rose water decals that I ordered from the BornPrettyStore.  These are different to use than I expected.  I thought they would apply like those temporary tattoos I used to have as a kid, but they weren't.  You have to remove the design off of the backing paper after soaking it in water for a few seconds, and then apply them to the nail, colour-side up.  Then apply pressure to seal it onto the nail with a wet cloth or paper towel, then carefully blot dry.

I really love the way this turned out, and I didn't have an issue applying these to a textured polish as opposed to a smooth polish.  I think that the sparkly texture background makes the mani that much more beautiful, but with some edginess.

You can buy this decal design here (choose option G103).  The thing I love about the BornPrettyStore is that they have FREE world-wide shipping!

What do you think?  Did I succeed in my attempt at some "rockin' nails"?  Have you tried the water decals from the BornPrettyStore?

  2. I love how that turned out! I have had some water decals for about a year and haven't used them once lol. I also never thought to pair them with textured polish. Now I want pink roses so I can pair them with Zoya Dahlia, I wonder how purple would look since that's what I have....

    1. I think that purple on Dahlia/black texture would look awesome! I may be a little biased cause purple's my favourite colour ;) If you do it, I can't wait to see :D
