I'm Alive!!

Wow, it's been over 2 months since my last blog post.. whoops!

I'm still alive and well, but let me tell you, my blogging has taken a nose dive.
I completely lost my interest in it, and it was starting to become too much work to do it daily, or even a couple times a week.

But, let's catch up, shall we?  Here's what's been going on in my life for the last while:

a)  Tyler got me a puppy for Christmas.  Remember this cutie?
AWW!!
Lexi will be 5 months on April 4th (oh how time flies!), and she is full of spit and vinegar, and keeps me busy most of the time!  Owen loves her, and she loves Owen, but they definitely have their moments, as all fur-siblings do.  She is now a little taller than Owen, and longer too.
Owen and Lexi staring down little Bosco
(my sister's boyfriend's mom's dog.. cause that's not confusing as heck!)
Sidenote: Lexi was the same size as Bosco (pug) when we got her :)

b)  I'm getting married in October (YAY!), so wedding planning has started full swing around my house.  I have my dress, we have decided on the bridesmaid dresses, this weekend we are hoping to finalize the guys' attire, and we are going to try out some cake/cupcakes from one of the bakeries we have narrowed our search to.  All of the other bigger stuff, other than flowers, is done and decided on, so now it's just going to be deciding on all of the smaller stuff like décor.

c)  I have destashed my polish collection down to about 200 polishes.  YIKES!!  I know!  (Check out my Storenvy if you want to take some off my hands!)  Over half that remain are still untried/not swatched on their own, so I'm trying to work on that slowly but surely.  If you follow me in Instagram (you totally should!), you will have seen some polishes that haven't made it on here.

And, here's what I'm wearing today - Whimsical Ideas by Pam Hatched!  My first Whimsy ^_^

I'm going to really try to get back into blogging more, but it might be a once-a-week kind of thing, hope you guys don't mind :)

That's about it.  What's new with you??

I'm Alive!!

Hey everyone!  I'm sure you're starting to wonder where the heck I have been these last few weeks, am I right?

Well, first we had Christmas break, where I did nothing but veg and visit with family for 2 weeks.  And remember the present I was so excited for?  Tyler got me a new fur-baby for Christmas!  Her name is Lexi, and she is a German Shepherd/Husky cross.  She is the newest love of my life, even if she drives me insane with her puppy shenanigans ;)

Here is a picture of the bundle of terror joy with her big brother, Owen.  They really do love each other, though Owen has his moments where he just wants her to go away.

J is for Jigsaw

Happy Monday folks!  Sorry I have been MIA for the last little bit.  I had a quick post the other day just as a "here's what I've been up to in the last few days" check-in.  If you missed it, Tyler and I bought our house! I my post from Wednesday, I told you that we walked from the house that we put an offer on the week before because of some issues that we saw in our inspection.  This past Friday, we went back with our real estate agent to look at the work that the homeowner had put into the house, and our agent was happy with the work that had been done so far and the work that was to be finished.  Tyler and I agreed and re-opened our offer in the house and it was accepted within an hour!!  Moving day is still June 22, so I will still be posting irregularly as I get my stuff packed up and everything figured out.  I'm excited but nervous at the same time :)

Onto the nails.  Today's post is my J mani for the ABC Challenge.  I apologize for not getting an I mani up last week, but I was on a major emotional roller coaster all week, and it was Sunday before I knew it!

We Have Bought a House!!

Just a quick post - I'm not going to make it in time to do my "I" mani for the ABC Challenge this week.  I will be doing a "J" one though, I promise :D

I have excellent news though - WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!  It's the house that we passed on Tuesday, but my uncle, our real estate agent, called me yesterday because he was going to the house anyways to check on the work the homeowners have done this week and wanted to know if we wanted to go too.  We went, and he was happy with the work they had done and were going to be completing, so we re-opened our offer on the house and they accepted it within the hour!!!  Talk about an emotional roller coaster this week!  I don't know if my little heart can handle anymore!!

Home Sweet Home!
I will post pictures after we are all moved in.  Moving day is June 22, only 3 weeks away!!

Smile!

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!  If you have been following my Facebook page, you will have seen my announcement that Tyler and I bought a house this past week!  We put an offer on it and it was accepted the same day! :D  We are going through for our inspection on Tuesday, when I plan to take lots of pictures, so I will post them on the Facebook page for everyone to see :)

I did this mani last week, and I thought it would be appropriate for it to be posted along with this news - smiley face nails!

H is for HAPPY BIRTHDAY OWEN!

Happy Sunday!!  Today is my baby boy's 3rd Birthday!  I can't believe that he is 3 already.. they grow up so fast!  Today is going to be filled with lots of R&R for us as a little family, and we will be headed to Tyler's house for a BBQ, which we have told Owen it's his birthday party ;)

If you are fairly new here, Owen is mine and my fiancé Tyler's furbaby.  He is a Chow/Jack Russell cross, and the love of our lives :D  We treat him as if he is our own flesh and blood, and a birthday is no different!  He got some presents from his Aunt Sarah (my sister) this morning, and I made him some homemade dog treats as well.  I will put pictures up of those at the end, but you came here for the nails!

Now, I didn't time it so that Owen's birthday would fall on the first day for "H" week, that's just how it worked out, and it couldn't have been more appropriate!  If you want to jump in on the ABC Challenge, you're more than welcome to at any time!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Good morning readers!  If you were on my Facebook page yesterday, you saw that it was my BIRTHDAY!  :D  I turned 25 yesterday and had a nice relaxing day of doing nothing.  I slept in until about 11am, Tyler made me breakfast (pancakes with strawberries), I did my nails (obviously) and did some laundry.  That's about it :)  Oh, and I got to bring Owen to my house with me when I left Tyler's house yesterday afternoon :D

My weekend was a little hectic and I apologize for not being around much and not posting.  I will tell you what I was up to, but first, let's take a look at what was on my nails for my birthday!

Glitzology Country Girl

Good evening my loves!  I'm not sure if I will get in the 2 posts I was hoping to get in today.  My sister and I went to get our hair cut and shopping afterwards earlier today.  I got a good 3-4 inches cut off my hair and though it's a little shorter than I was hoping, I still like it and that means I can wait another year before getting it cut again :D  (Yup, I'm lazy/low-maintenance like that ;) )  I was home a little later than I anticipated, so even if I get polished tonight I won't get pictures as it's already dark as I write this and no light box at Tyler's house for picture taking :(

So I have always been a "country bumpkin" (not quite as hardcore as Honey Boo Boo though).  When I was little, my two sisters and I would play outside all the time (helped that we only had 3 TV channels, lol)!  In the summer we would be playing in the yard chasing bugs or butterflies (I liked to collect snails and dragonflies), on our swingset, and climbing trees or the round bales in the hay field behind our house.  And in the winter we would spend our days digging as many tunnels through the snow as we could :)  I also listen to country music and love cranking it when one of my favourites comes on the radio!  We lived in the outskirts of a small town in a farming community, so it's not a strange thing to see tractors taking up the whole road or field after field of hay, corn, or potatoes.  (My favourite line from a song is  "If I'm going to be in a traffic jam / It better be a tractor man" from Rodney Atkins' song Take a Back Road - one of the ones that gets cranked ;) )

So when I saw a polish called Country Girl in Glitzology's shop, I knew I had to get it.  When she asked if I wanted to review polishes for her, this is one of the first I chose :)  I think part of it was so that I could represent my dad with my nails.  He has a John Deere tractor (it's his baby), so for him it's mostly about the colour combination ;)

Update on My Life

Howdie lovely readers!

I just wanted to update you with my adventures in life.. I have signed up for an online course in accounting :D  I will still be blogging, but I will have to see what I can get done in a week, so I may not be doing daily posts over the next few months.  This is going to be a big change because I have been out of school for 6.5 years :S

I'm excited to get started on this course... now if only my teacher would confirm that I am getting the correct text book.. don't want to spend $100 on the wrong one :P  And I'm not close enough to any of the campuses to go and buy it in person.

That's it for tonight as I am finishing up my 3-day Pure nail oil treatment tonight :)

Have a great rest of your night :)

HAPPY 7TH ANNIVERSARY

Today I'm taking a break from my love for nails and focusing on the love of my life, Tyler.  Today is our 7th  anniversary of being together.  It is also the 5th anniversary of our engagement :D

So let's start from the beginning!  Tyler and I met when we were both working at a restaurant that was owned by my best friend's parents.  I'll admit (I've told Tyler this already so if he reads this it won't come as a surprise ;) ) when I first met Tyler I thought that he looked a lot like Whitey from Me, Myself and Irene (the Jim Carey movie).  As we worked together more we talked more and he finally got up the courage to ask me to the movies.

He said to me while we were working the morning/breakfast shift, "I haven't been to the movies for so long, do you know what is playing?"  Of course, I had no idea as I don't really pay attention to upcoming movies, lol!  Anywho, I came back to pick my friend up from work (she worked the dinner shift and her parents were away so I was staying with her) and he said "you know how I asked about the movies this morning?"  I said "yes".  He said "I was wondering if you wanted to go with me".  (AWWWWWWW *blush*)  This was the very first time I had been asked on a date (I was 17 at the time) so it was a pretty big deal :D

The day of our first date, it was a Tuesday, I slipped and fell in my friend's shower while getting ready for school and had sprained my knee.  So when Tyler came to get me for our date, I had to show him my tensor bandage and hadn't shaved my legs in a while.  I said "don't mind the hairy legs" and when he didn't run I knew he was a keeper ;D

During this first bit of our relationship, Tyler had an emergency corneal transplant which was really scary for me (I wasn't told until after the surgery).  Everything is OK now though :)

Tyler and Me   2007
(at a family reunion.. it was informal ;) )
In 2007 I got my wisdom teeth pulled on a Wednesday and Tyler and I were to go to his cousin's wedding that weekend.  Everything went well, until we got to the dinner part.. I couldn't eat anything but the cheesecake for dessert.  Tyler gave me his cheesecake as he's not a big dessert person and it was all I could manage to get down.  I actually broke down and shed a few tears at the table because I wanted to eat so badly but couldn't.  And again, I knew he was a keeper!

Tyler and Me   2007
(before his cousin's wedding -- I look like a chipmunk because of my wisdom teeth surgery!)
On October 4, 2007, Tyler proposed! :D  He told me he needed to go to the mall (20 min drive away) to get ends for his earrings (he has the semi-circle ones with the spikes on the ends), so we went after work. We went into the jewellery store and I kept saying, "they aren't going to be here, it's more of something we would find in Claire's, let's go over there" but he wasn't having it.  He said "let's just look around".  As I was wandering around, we made it to the rings and as I'm looking at them he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  (AWWWWWW!!!)  Of course I said yes!  I even got to pick out my engagement ring :D But of course, the first thing "logical me" says is "how much are you looking to spend?"  Haha!  It was hard picking just one!  And jokingly I pointed at the $10,000 ring and said "I want that one!"  I decided on a gold band with a .25ct solitaire diamond.  It's not the biggest, it's not the most expensive, but I don't care, it's the most precious piece of jewellery that I own.  All I cared about was that it came from the guy that I loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with.  Plus, big gaudy rings look stupid on my hands ;)

Then in 2008, we went to a wedding on my family's side, with no surgeries a couple days before ;)  We clean up pretty good!

Then in 2010, Tyler's mom brought home a puppy she was planning to keep as her own.  Little did we know that this puppy would become attached to Tyler's hip and would then become our baby Owen!

When Owen came home, it was the Thursday before Father's Day in 2010.  How fitting!  He wasn't even a month old and was so teeny tiny.  The second picture gives you an idea of how tiny he was, he was tinier than the little teddy bear Tyler's mom gave him.  He instantly became our pride and joy.

That fall Tyler left to go to school for a 2 year course to become a personal trainer in London, Ontario.  I don't like change, so this was a pretty big deal for me.  He also took Owen with him :(  It was a big change from seeing him at least one night during the week and every weekend to once every month or so.  I was able to fill my time with visiting my friend often and started into the Twilight craze :D  I travelled, usually every 3-4 weeks, 2.5 hours (1 way) to visit Tyler while he was at school.

When he was home last summer, between school years, we got a few pictures (my sister would be going to school that fall for photography so there was always a camera around ;) ).

This past February, on Tyler's reading week, Tyler and I took a trip (our first one just us in our entire time being together!) to the Dominican Republic.  This was the best getaway!  If we could do it every year I would go in a heart beat.  It was so nice to spend quality time together without a care in the world, for a week anyways ;)  Owen wasn't happy with us when we were leaving because up until that point, he had never been away from either of us for more than a few hours.

Here are some pictures of us while I was visiting Tyler and Owen while Tyler was at school.

And finally, GRADUATION DAY!!! :D :D  I couldn't have been more proud of Tyler on his graduation day! I felt like the Grinch when his heart grew 3 times too big and the Whos invited him to their Christmas feast (not that I'm a Grinch!) :D

So, now that Tyler is home and is done school, we are waiting until he finds a job as a personal trainer before we start looking for houses, we are both still living at home.  Then we'll start thinking about a wedding!

Here is to many more years (and hopefully we can get pictures more often!)!!!

XOXO
