Easter Nails

Happy Friday everyone!  I can't believe it, but I think that Spring has finally sprung!  If you have been here for a while, you know I'm a winter person but this winter has been super long even for me.  Today, Owen, Lexi and I spent some time getting our bronze on on the side deck where the sun was beating down and making it nice and toasty warm!  Lexi was finding it a little hot and opted to go lie on the snow in the backyard instead, lol!

Last week, Celine from Nail Polish Canada emailed me and asked if I wanted to participate in their Easter Nail Art Challenge.  It's been a while since I've done nail art, so I thought I would give 'er a go!  Here's what I came up with:

I used a bunch of polishes, I'll just list them for you guys:
Julep Bess (blue)
Julep Blake (yellow)
OPI Rumple's Wiggin' (purple)
Julep Hayden (orange)
Julep Martha (pink)
Jordana Black
LA Colors Art Deco striping polish in White
China Glaze Fairy Dust (glitter)
Julep Matte Top Coat

The picture doesn't show the polishes in 100% colour accuracy, but it was late at night when I took the picture and by the time I got up in the morning, my sugar spun thumb was all smushed.

I love pastel polishes, and they look even better when they are topped with a matte top coat.  I love the chalky look of them :)

Make sure to check out all the other entries of the Nail Polish Canada Easter Nail Art Challenge and vote for your favourite!

Have you done any Easter nails yet?  Post them to my Facebook page, I would love to see them!

Catching Fire Nails

Good morning everyone!  I hope your first week of December is treating you well!  Only 20 more sleeps till the big guy is here!  I have started my Christmas shopping, but hope that Tyler and I can get a good chunk of it done this coming weekend :)

Today I have a quick post with a mani that I did a couple weeks ago for the opening weekend of Catching Fire, the second installment of the Hunger Games trilogy.  This is one of my favourite trilogies, and of course I had to go and watch it with my bestest friend, and movie-buddy, and have a girls' weekend :D

For this I started with 2 coats of Julep Nadia, a light yellow shimmer.  This is a really interesting colour, and I kind of like it.  Then, I followed cutepolish's tutorial for Catching Fire nails using a random orange shimmer polish, and Julep Karmen to create the flame tips, and my Jordana Pop Art Black Mark striper polish.

Overall, I love the look of this mani, and loved the movie!!  It was just as exciting as Hunger Games, and can't wait for the final movie to come out, but I don't know when that is yet.

Did you go watch Catching Fire?  Did you do your nails to match the occasion?

Late Hallowe'en Night Nails

Hey everybody!!  I'M BACK!!  I have most of the big details, like vendors, booked for the wedding, and I think I am safe to come back to blogging on a fairly regular basis :D

Let's get right to the nails, and then I will catch you up on everything I have been up to for the last month-ish.

Hallowe'en Mani #5

Afternoon my loves!  What's shakin'?  Almost another day of work behind me, and the weekend almost within my grasp!  Tyler and I are going to be heading to my friend's house Saturday to go and see another friend and his band play in their hometown (they normally play in the Toronto area) and I'm kind of excited even though it's at a bar (I don't drink) and they don't play my kind of music.  I don't get out much though :P

I have another Hallowe'en mani for you today!  I found the inspiration for this one on Pinterest, here's the link to the original picture.  Here is my "rendition"!

Hallowe'en Mani #3

Good morning and Happy Thursday!!  Last day of the work week for me, and it's that much closer to Turkey weekend here in the Great White North!  Yahoo!!  I love turkey dinners - aside from all things pasta, turkey is my favourite meal.  But you have to have all the trimmings - stuffing, potatoes, turnip, coleslaw, peas, gravy... and grandma's homemade apple pie *drool*  My cousins and I are in charge of dessert this year, so not sure if we will get some of grandma's apple pie.  I think it's high-time I got the recipe from her, no?

Alrighty, onto the nails!  This is the third Hallowe'en mani I have done, and I love the look of them every time I see them, so of course I had to do them again this year - Candy Corn Nails!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Oct 5

Afternoon everyone!  What a dreary weekend!  It's definitely fall, and most of the trees around here have lost 90% of their leaves.. does that mean winter will be extra early this year?  One can only hope, right?? ;)

It's Swatch-It-Up-Saturday, and I will call this one the "Avon Edition" because it's mostly Avon polishes.  I did a swatch-a-thon last week, and I worked on swatching all of my Avon polishes.  I hope to work through entire brands at a time, when I have a chance to sit down and swatch for a whole day.  Let's get started!

Hallowe'en Mani #1

Evening everyone!  Can you believe we are into October already??  I am not normally a Hallowe'en person, but I have been trying to come up with some ideas for some Hallowe'en manis for you and I have a few in mind.  It may be a little early in the month to start them, but ah well ;)  I'm going to try to do as many as I can this month, we'll see how many I get done :D

Here is the first one!

Fall Waterfall Mani

Evening ladies and gents!  I hope everyone enjoyed their week.  I had to work today, so I didn't have any time to work on blog posts, so hopefully I will have time tomorrow to do up the Swatch-It-Saturday post tomorrow morning.

I put on Julep Alma on Wednesday night and at first I was kind of grossed out by the colour (I will go into that more in my swatch post tomorrow), but then I got thinking about what kind of nail art I could do over it and this is what I came up with!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 14

Good morning lovely readers!  I hope everyone is staying snuggled up this morning!  It's a whopping 4°C here this morning and there was a heavy layer of frost out in the country - I'm working this morning and my mom was telling me on the way in to work :)  And you know what that means!!  Winter is coming!!! :D  YAY!!!

It's yet another Swatch-It-Up-Saturday!  Come check out all the swatches I have been hoarding!  There are LOTS, so let's get right to it, shall we?

W is for Winnie the Pooh Water Marble

Evening everyone!  I'm so glad it's a long weekend so I don't have to go to work tomorrow :D  That and today wasn't a very productive day, so I'm glad I have another "do-over" day :)

Tonight I have my "W" mani for the ABC Nail Art Challenge!  There are only 4 weeks left of the Challenge, I can't believe we are this close to the end already!  So much has happened in the last 20+ weeks!  Let's get to it, shall we?

Julep Kaylen

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Happy Sunday!  Back to work tomorrow! :(  That's OK though, the more days that pass, the closer Tyler and I get to move into our first house :D  It's been a super long weekend waiting to be able to go for our inspection on Tuesday, and I still have to wait almost 2 whole days yet, lol!

Here is the swatch of Julep Kaylen I promised in my Smile mani post yesterday.

Smile!

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far!  If you have been following my Facebook page, you will have seen my announcement that Tyler and I bought a house this past week!  We put an offer on it and it was accepted the same day! :D  We are going through for our inspection on Tuesday, when I plan to take lots of pictures, so I will post them on the Facebook page for everyone to see :)

I did this mani last week, and I thought it would be appropriate for it to be posted along with this news - smiley face nails!

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Good morning readers!! :D  I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mine was kinda-sorta busy, but relaxing at the same time - if that makes sense :P  Tyler, my sister, my sister's friend, Owen and I went for a 2 hour hike on Saturday, then to Dairy Queen after :D  I got a new Blizzard Waffle Cone, and while it was good, I think I would rather a Blizzard out of a cup - a) you get more ice cream that way, and b) the waffle cone was just kinda "meh".  I also got the Blizzard of the month - Choco Peanut Butter Brownie, and again, it was just kinda "meh".  Shoulda stuck to my regular Skor Blizzard in a cup, but I'm glad I tried it :)

Today I've got for you a neon polish from last year, maybe a couple years ago?  I dunno, I just know that I LOVE it and I don't care when it came out, lol!  This is China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.  **SUNGLASSES REQUIRED!**

Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  I thought it would be super appropriate to do some Easter themed nails for this weekend :)  I am loving all the pastel coloured polishes everyone is coming out with for the spring!  I'm also surprised by how many I actually have in my collection :)  And what's a pastel polish without adding a matte top coat, right?

Here are my base colours for my designs:

February Nail Art Challenge Day 8

Howdy readers!!  It's Thursday, my last day of work - yippee!!!  Bring on the weekend so I can sleep in :D

Today is Day 8 of the Challenge, can you believe it's almost over?!  Only one more day to go, what ever will I do when it's all over?!?!  Day 8 is all about Polka Dots :D  I love me some dotticures, they are so easy to execute and the combinations are seriously endless!  All you need is polish and something pointy.  Personally, I use a tailor's pin stuck in the eraser of a pencil, an unfolded paperclip, or a toothpick, or a combination of them all, to create my dotticures.  You could also use a dried up ball point pen or the lead end of a pencil.  No need to buy those fancy schmancy dotting tools when you have so many around the house ;)

February Nail Art Challenge Day 1

Good morning my loves, and welcome to Day 1 of my February Nail Art Challenge!!  I can't wait to get started on this Challenge, there are so many participants this time 'round, there are going to be SO many different designs to look at! :D

Day 1 is Galaxy Nails!  Galaxy Nails are one of my favourite forms of nail art because it looks different every time, and it's such "large scale design" on a small canvas :)

I have been intrigued with space, and all things astrology since taking the "fill in" course at the end of my grade 9 science class.  They used it as a "just in case there aren't enough snow days" unit to fill in the last couple weeks of the semester, but I would have rather taken astrology than biology ;)
