Halo Hues Reciprocal Gradient

Good morning and Happy Monday!  It's a beautifully chilly winter's day today!  We got a couple inches of snow over the weekend while I was away watching Hunger Games, so the entire town is blanketed in a gorgeous layer of the white stuff :D  Christmas carols are running through my head all of my waking hours now, and I have graduated from snowflake/winter earrings to Christmas ones!  Is anyone else getting excited??

Let's get to the nails.  I did these a while back and was reluctant to even post them because I couldn't get them to look right in the pictures.  I loved this mani, the pictures didn't do it any justice at all!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 14

Good morning lovely readers!  I hope everyone is staying snuggled up this morning!  It's a whopping 4°C here this morning and there was a heavy layer of frost out in the country - I'm working this morning and my mom was telling me on the way in to work :)  And you know what that means!!  Winter is coming!!! :D  YAY!!!

It's yet another Swatch-It-Up-Saturday!  Come check out all the swatches I have been hoarding!  There are LOTS, so let's get right to it, shall we?

Enchanted Polish Freeze Machine

Good evening ladies and gents!  Just a quick post tonight, life has been a little crazy lately, and today made it even crazier!

I have some special swatches for you tonight, I know I missed Swatch-It-Up-Saturday this past weekend, but I have a couple to hopefully post this coming weekend.

Today I have for you Enchanted Polish Freeze Machine.  Now, I know what you're thinking.. "wow!!  You're lucky to have scored that!"  Well.. I didn't get it from Enchanted Polish directly - a friend of mine ended up with 2 of them and knew that it was on my wishlist, so she offered it up to me and I couldn't refuse :D

Hey everybody!  Happy Friday!!  Any exciting plans this weekend?  I don't have any as of yet, but you never know :) I survived the Pure 3-Day Cuticle Oil Treatment this week, and let me tell you, I'm so glad to be polishing again :D

Today I have for you Color Club Halo-Graphic.  I realize that most, if not all, of you have seen this on a hundred other blogs, but this is my first time using a Color Club Halo Hues polish, and I must say I get what everyone is ooohing and ahhhhing about with these :D

Aly's Dream Polish #23 Vivid Violet

Good very early morning everyone!  If you are still up, hey!  If you are reading this after waking up, good morning sleepy head!  I am working on this post as I wait until it's time to head to Pearson Airport in Toronto to pick up my parents who are coming home from Cuba today.  Of course their flight was delayed almost 3 hours, otherwise, I would be almost back home already *sigh*  And since I didn't get a post up yesterday (technically), I thought I would do up a couple for you :)

Here we have the GORGEOUS #23 Vivid Violet from Aly's Dream Polishes.  I purchased this polish with a blogger discount that Ashley sent me, so this is technically PROVIDED FOR REVIEW, even though I bought it with my own moolah :)  (This is me trying to comply with the new rules, even though I am in Canada :) )

Girly Bits Roger That

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Yay it's Thursday of a short week!!  And it's almost hometime!! :D  What does everyone have planned for the Easter weekend?  And do you go back to work on Monday, or you get tomorrow and Monday off?  I have a lunch tomorrow, then have to pick mom and dad up at the airport tomorrow night.  Then I probably have a meal on Saturday, and another meal on Sunday.  And back to the grind on Monday :(

Today I have for you my polish for COTW, which is blue :)  This is Girly Bits Roger That.

Zoya Aurora

Good lovely morning everybody!  It's pretty dreary here this morning - typical Spring morning, and my snow is disappearing at an alarmingly fast rate :(

Today I have for you the beautiful Zoya Aurora from the Ornate collection that they released for the Christmas season last year.  Yep, it's my first time trying it on its own.. yep, I'm a slow-poke!  LOL!

Julep Helen and Girly Bits Hocus Pocus

Good afternoon and HAPPY MONDAY!  Weeeee?  :)  The good news?  It's a short week, and the Easter Bunny is visiting this weekend with an abundance of chocolate for everyone!!  I heart me some chocolate :D

Yesterday I told you to come back to see what I did to Julep Helen, and here is what I came up with!  I topped it with Girly Bits Hocus Pocus holographic top coat.

Girly Bits Swatches

Hey everybody!  You've been so patient with me in regards to my dragging out this nail haul over the last few days and I want to say thanks for hanging in there! :D  This is the last of what I recieved earlier this week, but I'm sure there will be more for next week :)

Today I have for you the swatches of the polishes I received from Girly Bits.  Let's take a look :D  Keep in mind that I am only showing you half of my haul, as I mentioned the other half is for Christmas gifts :D

First we have Roger That.  This show-stopper is a medium-ish blue with holo glitter through it and it just about knocked my socks off!  I think this is an absolutely stunning colour, and the story behind it's creation is a tear-jerker, you can read it here.  This is my very first holographic polish and I'm so glad I got it, I am so happy with it :D  It's definitely one of those "pay attention to me" kinda polishes ;)

Here it is without a flash, yet it still has the beautiful rainbow holo flowing through it :)

If this polish could be personified, it would definitely be a pyro -- it needs to light a fire on your fingernails no matter what ;)  And I know that this polish is a lot to look at as it is, but I can't help but wonder what it would look like with some stamping -- any suggestions on what I could try?  These pictures are with 3 coats of Roger That.

Alrighty, now that I have your hearts racing, take a look at this one!  The other polish I got for myself is Hocus Pocus.  This is a holographic topcoat-type polish that you can put over any colour to turn it into a rainbow holographic work of art.  Now, I took pictures of my polish before and after I applied Hocus Pocus to it so you can see the difference.  So firstly, we have LA Colors Atomic, which is a darker teal colour.  This is a really pretty colour on it's own, and I did take pictures with the flash but they turned out showing the colour a lot brighter of a teal than what it really is, so I decided not to post them.

This is 2 coats.  This colour is a colour that craves nail art, I have worn it on its own and it's a touch "boring", though maybe not if you don't have something like this already :)  I found these at my local Urban Planet store on sale maybe a year or more ago for 5 for $10, and have also seen them at a couple dollar stores for $2 each.

I then added the Hocus Pocus polish to add a little fire under Atomic's pants and this is what I came up with.  I'm sorry the pictures are slightly blurry -- my camera was acting up and the display screen sucks so I can't tell what the pictures really look like until I get them on the computer.

I like this look, but I don't know if I love it.  Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think it has anything to do with Hocus Pocus, I think I picked the wrong colour to layer it with.  Hocus Pocus has an ever-so-slight grey base, so I'm wondering if this would look better over a white or grey rather than a teal.  I will definitely be giving it another shot, no question on that.  I love the fire that it gives to the colour, but it's harder to see with the teal colour so that's why I'm wondering if a more neutral colour would be better for this topcoat.  I put just 1 coat of Hocus Pocus over Atomic.

Have you guys tried either of these colours?  Any suggestions for base colours to layer with Hocus Pocus?  I'm defiitely open to suggestions :)

And don't worry, I will post the details, reactions and swatches for the "mystery Christmas gift" polishes when they are unwrapped in about 4 months' time :D

So where can you get yourself these polishes?  Head on over to the Girly Bits online store.  Pam has lots (and LOTS) of wonderful polish choices, so make sure you pick yourself up a couple while you're there ;)

Nail Haul Part 2 -- Girly Bits

Happy Thursday my dears!  It's almost the end of the week :D  I have to work tomorrow, so my week seems super long!

So yesterday I posted about my Elixir Lacquers portion of my major nail haul, and today it's time for the Girly Bits part :D

As with Elixir Lacquers, this was my first purchase from Pam over at Girly Bits.  One reason I was excited for this order was because Pam is a "local" indie polish creator even though she's over 5 hours away from me, lol!  It's nice to support indie polish creators from Canada, especially from Ontario :D  Another reason is because Roger That, one of her more recent creations, is in memory of a boy that passed away in her community, that her children went to school with.  I have to support this because it's just such an awesome cause!  Pam, if you get to reading this, I want you to know that what you have done with your polishes for the Rogers family is absolutely outstanding!  I just hope that every person who purchases both Roger That and Gentle Ginger knows the amount of love that goes into these polishes :D

Ok, enough sappiness, I'm making myself teary *sniffles*  So what all did I get?!  Well let's go see!

First off, everything was in a padded mailing envelope (the plastic kind) and all neatly bundled in a large ziploc-type baggie.  Inside this was the memorial card that I'm presuming Pam puts with every purchase of Roger That (a very personal touch!).  It has the story behind the polish on the back of the card (postcard size).  The picture's really blurry, so here is the link to the story.

So then when I pulled everything out of the baggie, I found my package beautifully wrapped in blue tissue paper with the Girly Bits logo on it.  This is a really nice touch, makes it feel like a gift :D

And then, everything is wrapped in a large piece of bubble wrap!  Look how well these puppies are packaged! :D  This is awesome -- there's no way they would break in this!  Now, you are probably wondering why there is a big red square in the middle.  Well you see, part of this package is Christmas gifts, so I don't want the recipients to see their gifts before-hand, now do I?  LOL!  No peeking! :D  All I'm going to say is that the recipients are going to absolutely LOVE what I have for them :D

And then they are individually wrapped in bubble wrap!  I could probably give said Christmas-gift-recipients all this bubble wrap and they would be happy, hahaha!

Alright, so now that we're all unwrapped, what was inside?  Keep in mind I'm only going to show you part of it :)  The rest I will show you after Christmas (if I can hold out that long!).

Look at those beautiful holographic polishes!!!  Ooooo-aaaaahhhhh :D  I love them!  Hocus Pocus is a topcoat-type polish that you can put over top of any polish colour to turn it into a holo -- I cannot wait to try this over my favourite colours!  Roger That is a medium to dark blue with a stunning rainbow holographic through it!  Watch for the swatches to be coming on the weekend :D

Now, you want to know where to get these, right?  Well if you go to the Girly Bits online shop you can find these, the other mystery colours I got along with SO MANY MORE beautiful polishes!  You should definitely check it out if you haven't already!

Have you purchased from Girly Bits?  What did you get, and how did you like them?
