2mm Square Nail Studs - REVIEW

Good morning and Happy Hump Day!  My first nail post of 2014 comes half way into January.. shame on me :(  I'm such a bad blogger!  I have lost my drive to blog, but I have made the commitment to Born Pretty Store to do a review on a product they sent me, which I was really excited about receiving, so I figured it was high-time I pull myself together and get back in the saddle!  This post contains affiliate links, and this product was sent to me free of charge for an honest product review.

Dot Shower Mani - Facebook Request

Good morning, happy Monday!  Tyler and I were looking at the weather forecast for this week and they are predicting wet flurries over night for all of this week :D  YIPPEE!!!  (Yes, I'm sick in the head, it's all good ;) )

Today I have a mani I did a while back (and the last of my "draft" posts) that was suggested to me by a Facebook fan and friend, Kim!  I asked my followers to send me links of manis they wanted me to try to replicate and she was the only one with suggestions, and she continues to send me suggestions from time to time.  Here was the inspiration for this mani.  Let's take a look at what I did :)

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Oct 5

Afternoon everyone!  What a dreary weekend!  It's definitely fall, and most of the trees around here have lost 90% of their leaves.. does that mean winter will be extra early this year?  One can only hope, right?? ;)

It's Swatch-It-Up-Saturday, and I will call this one the "Avon Edition" because it's mostly Avon polishes.  I did a swatch-a-thon last week, and I worked on swatching all of my Avon polishes.  I hope to work through entire brands at a time, when I have a chance to sit down and swatch for a whole day.  Let's get started!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 28

Good morning my loves!  I hope everyone has fun plans for this weekend!  As I write this, I am working on some polish swatching because, quite frankly, I have too many untried or unswatched polishes and it drives me crazy every time I look at my polish list!  But, it's also Swatch-It-Up-Saturday, so while I am working diligently, here is what I have worn over the past week!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 21

What a dreary morning - looks like a perfect day for doing lots of swatches while Tyler is working :)

Another week over, and lots of swatches to show you from the past week, so let's get to it, shall we?

Pink and Grey Mani

Hey everyone!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  My sister came and spent the day with me on Friday and I did her nails.  She chose to do pink and grey, and when I was done, I told her she should do grey polka dots on the pink accent nail.  She "doesn't like polka dots" and is "blah" (her words) so we left it as grey on all nails and pink on ring accent nails.  I told her I was going to do my nails to match, but I was going to add polka dots and she was going to wish she did polka dots on hers!  Here is what I did:

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 14

Good morning lovely readers!  I hope everyone is staying snuggled up this morning!  It's a whopping 4°C here this morning and there was a heavy layer of frost out in the country - I'm working this morning and my mom was telling me on the way in to work :)  And you know what that means!!  Winter is coming!!! :D  YAY!!!

It's yet another Swatch-It-Up-Saturday!  Come check out all the swatches I have been hoarding!  There are LOTS, so let's get right to it, shall we?

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday June 15

Happy Saturday!  Do you guys have any exciting plans for the weekend?  Tyler and I will be working on getting all the last minute things sorted out because in ONE WEEK we will be moving into our house!!!  PS - don't be surprised if I don't post that day ;)

Cherry Blossoms

Morning my dears!  How is everyone?  Today is the day Tyler and I go back to the house for our first visit before closing!  Can you believe it's getting so close!?  It's becoming more and more real every day! :D

Sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, I painted my nails on Monday night in preparation of doing some nail art (not at all like I am showing you today) and I got really lazy and just left it at the base colour.  So I did some pondering yesterday at work trying to come up with something to do.  A girl on the Canadian Julep Trade Group on Facebook mentioned doing cherry blossom nails and I decided right then and there that's what I was going to do because my base colour was perfect for it!

Glitter Gradient with Avon and Julep

Monday again!  How was everyone's weekend?

I have my 2nd attempt at a glitter gradient today and I definitely think that I am MUCH better at it this time than the first time I did it (and WOW can you believe how long my nails were?!)!

F is for Flowers

Evening folks!  It was such a beautiful day today and I felt so retarded being cooped up inside at work, and then being cooped up working out in the gym.  My sister wasn't home when I was done work so I didn't have a walking buddy, and I thought that Tyler might give me the "look" if I didn't go and do weight training tonight :)

Today I have for you my F mani for the ABC Challenge!  Again, this isn't what I had planned to do, but my plan sounded like too much work when I went to do my nails last night, lol!

Avon Mulberry

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Afternoon readers!  It looks like spring is here, though I have heard that Western Canada and North Western US regions got some more snow overnight and I just want to say that I'm kinda jealous ;)  Although, hopefully the warmer weather here means no more peeling nails.. I had to hack my nails down last night, and will be working on the 3-day Pure Cuticle Oil Treatment today, tomorrow and Thursday, which means no polish for me till Friday *gasp!*

Today I've got for you an Avon polish that I have had for a long time, and have used a number of times.  This is Avon Mulberry.

I can't believe we are on "E" week already for the ABC Challenge!  If you are just joining us, click the link and get the information for the Challenge, and join in if you want!

For "E", I wasn't sure what kind of nail art to do so I just picked something kind of vague and random...

Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  I thought it would be super appropriate to do some Easter themed nails for this weekend :)  I am loving all the pastel coloured polishes everyone is coming out with for the spring!  I'm also surprised by how many I actually have in my collection :)  And what's a pastel polish without adding a matte top coat, right?

Here are my base colours for my designs:

Avon Loving Lavender

Second post for Friday - look at me go!! :D  I thought because I didn't get one up for you guys yesterday that I would do my best to get 2 up for you today!

In this post I have a swatch of Avon Loving Lavender.  I really love this color - it's perfect for spring!

Purple Water Marble

Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!  What do you have planned for the weekend?  I am going to be working on/finishing my nail swatch stick display board!  Wanna check it out so far?  Here is the link to my Facebook photo album!

Today I have for you a purple water marble that I did earlier this week.  COTW for this week in my Facebook group was purple.  I have been obsessed with purple polishes this week, so be prepared to see some in the next few posts :)

Christmas Wreath Half Moons

Well, looks like we all survived December 21, 2012!  Who wants to make t-shirts?!  ;)  And to top it off, we got some snow last night so *breaks into song* it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Today I have for you a Christmas twist on half moon nails - I have turned them into Christmas wreathes :D  I can't believe we are only 4 days away from Christmas day!  This month has gone by way too fast!  I remember when I was younger, December would always drag by so slowly because I was so excited for Christmas!  Christmas Day and Boxing Day also seemed to last forever too, but now it seems you do all these preparations for Christmas and then before you know it, it's all over.  Maybe we should do Christmas nails all through the year :D

Anywho, onto my wreathes...

For this I used 2 coats of Julep Alyson as my base colour.  Then with hole reinforcements, I created my half moon curve a little further down the nail than you normally would with a half moon and painted Avon Ruby Slippers on the tip.  After removing the reinforcements, I used Zoya Logan and my dotting tool to create the bottom of a wreath along the half moon line.  You probably could just do your nails half and half because the bottom of the wreath is what creates the half moon look in the end anyways.

Then using Julep Delaunay and my dotting tool again, I created little berries on the wreath :)  After all that, using Julep Felicity and Konad M71 I stamped bows on the bottom of the wreath.  It didn't stand out as much as I had pictured in my mind, so if you want it to stand out more, it would probably be best to freehand a bow rather than stamping.

I love the way this turned out!  Except for the bow not standing out as much as I hoped, it looks exactly how I pictured it in my head :D

Are you excited that we are so close to Christmas?  What is the favourite Christmas mani you have done so far?

Holly-day Nails

Good evening beautiful readers!  I can't believe it's Sunday evening, I only have 4 days of work left before I am off on Christmas holidays and there are only 9 days until the big day!

As I was on my way home from finishing my Christmas shopping (yep, I'm DONE!), I heard the song White Christmas by Paul Brandt and I couldn't help thinking to myself how much I can relate to the first lines of the song
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas,
just like the ones I used to know."
For those of us in South-Central Ontario to have no snow and less than 10 days until Christmas, it's a sad, sad thing ... in my opinion anyways!  Most people I know are OK with the no snow part, but me, I want it so bad I'm considering buying myself a snow machine for Christmas!  :D  (How sweet would that be?!)

Anywho, I did white nails yesterday for peace, in honour of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, USA that happened on Friday.  I took those nails and was able to add some Christmas cheer to them :)

For this look I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, topped with Julep Melissa to give it a pearly finish :)  Then, using a toothpick I applied "V"s, sort of like you do when drawing birds in the sky, with Sinful Colors Exotic Green.  I did 2 of those, connecting the top one to the middle of the bottom one, and then a line sticking out the top to make the holly leaves.  Then, with the toothpick, I used Avon Cherry Jubilee to create the holly berries in a group of 3 :)

These are simple and chic, yet Christmasy enough to bring a smile to my face :)  I was going to do them on all my nails but wanted to keep it clean so I only did them as accent nails.

Are you tired of Christmas nails yet?  I''m sure not!  I could do them all year, but imagine how much red, white and green polish one would go through!!
