Marble Flocking Powder Mani

Evening folks.  If you know me well enough by now, you will know that I definitely got distracted on Sunday after publishing my post.. so I didn't get any extras written up *slaps own wrist* Bad llama!  Anyways, I wrote this up while at work Monday so I could stick the pictures in and publish it as soon as I got home and here were are on Wednesday morning... *sigh*

Today I have for you a mani I did not this past weekend, but the weekend before.  I have been meaning to do this kind of mani for a long time now, ever since I saw it in a picture on Facebook, which I can't for the life of me find now!  I should have pinned it!  This is a "marble" flocking powder mani!

Swatch-It-Up-Saturday Sep 28

Good morning my loves!  I hope everyone has fun plans for this weekend!  As I write this, I am working on some polish swatching because, quite frankly, I have too many untried or unswatched polishes and it drives me crazy every time I look at my polish list!  But, it's also Swatch-It-Up-Saturday, so while I am working diligently, here is what I have worn over the past week!

Q is for Quilt Patch

Evening lovely readers!!  I hope you have all had a wonderful week!  I have so many pictures of manis built up, but not enough time to work on posting them :(  So sorry!!!  I hope to get some stuff done blog-wise this weekend, but I don't know if that will happen :\  I just ask that you bare with me another couple of weeks, and I will try to be back on some sort of posting schedule :)

Tonight I have for you my (better late than never) Q mani for the ABC Nail Art Challenge!

O is for Ombre

Happy Sunday!  I did have a Swatch-It-Up-Saturday post to do for yesterday, but ran out of time, so it's going to have to wait until next weekend :)  I do have my "O" mani for this week's letter for the ABC Challenge though!

Happy Saturday!  Do you guys have any exciting plans for the weekend?  Tyler and I will be working on getting all the last minute things sorted out because in ONE WEEK we will be moving into our house!!!  PS - don't be surprised if I don't post that day ;)

Cherry Blossoms

Morning my dears!  How is everyone?  Today is the day Tyler and I go back to the house for our first visit before closing!  Can you believe it's getting so close!?  It's becoming more and more real every day! :D

Sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, I painted my nails on Monday night in preparation of doing some nail art (not at all like I am showing you today) and I got really lazy and just left it at the base colour.  So I did some pondering yesterday at work trying to come up with something to do.  A girl on the Canadian Julep Trade Group on Facebook mentioned doing cherry blossom nails and I decided right then and there that's what I was going to do because my base colour was perfect for it!

Glitter Gradient with Avon and Julep

Monday again!  How was everyone's weekend?

I have my 2nd attempt at a glitter gradient today and I definitely think that I am MUCH better at it this time than the first time I did it (and WOW can you believe how long my nails were?!)!

Julep Hermione Over Turned Up Turquoise

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

YAY it's Wednesday!  Hopefully today and tomorrow go by fast cause I'm ready for the weekend already!  I hope this weekend isn't as humid as last weekend though.

Today I have for you another crackle .. yeah, yeah, I know .. crackles are "so last year" but I like 'em :)  I put Julep Hermione over China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise that I showed you yesterday.

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Morning ladies and gents!  Did my Canadians survive the long weekend?  We had such beautiful weather all weekend, considering normally the temperatures plummet and it rains and/or snows on this weekend here in Ontario.  I did hear that in Newfoundland they received almost 60cm of the white stuff over the weekend.  *_* Wish I was there... :)

Anywho, onto the nails.  I was in a bit of an "I don't want to post" mood last week, so these are from last week when the COTW was NEONS.  This is China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise.  I'm not going to lie to you, I did use the brighten scale on my photo editing program to lighten these pictures up, but that's because they were pretty dark.  Not sure what is up with my light box... *sigh*

Elixir Lacquers A Mermaid's Tale

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Hello again, I thought I would throw in a nail swatch today as well!  I have a couple for backup and although you are probably still oogling the Nail Swatch Stick Display post, here's something else for when you come out of your trance ;)

This is Elixir Lacquers A Mermaid's Tale.  I know I have swatched this on here a while ago, but when I was looking at the Elixir Lacquers storefront, I noticed that Nicole had put my swatch pictures in for A Mermaid's Tale and I actually cringed, lol!  I knew I could take better pictures of it if I redid them, so I did.  Wanna see the original swatch - click here (please don't laugh too hard ;) ).

Julep Amy

All polishes are purchased with my own money unless stated otherwise.

Hey everybody!  How is your week going so far?

Today I have for you the base colour I did for my "A" mani last week (I know, it's quite a delay, sorry about that..).  I hope to get my "B" mani done tonight, but I have my final exam for my course at the end of the week, so I will be mostly studying for that .. if the website loads the way it should *sigh*  Anyways, onto the polish :D  This is Julep Amy.

Good morning and welcome to day/week 1 of the ABC Nail Art Challenge!  If you are a new follower, welcome!  All information for the Challenge can be found here.

This week (Mar 31 - Apr 6) is brought to you by the letter "A" - yes that was meant to sound like Sesame Street ;)

Julep Mystery Blue

Happy Wednesday!!  How is everyone's week so far?

Today I have for you yet another Julep (I have a lot to get through still, so bare with me ;) ).  This is "Mystery Blue" which doesn't have a real name like the rest of their polishes.  This irks me a little, I like my polishes to have names, but watcha gonna do, right?

These were released in the fall of 2012 in Mystery Boxes.  Then they had them in one of the secret stores a few months ago, where you could get the collection of 5 mystery colours - blue, brown, dark purple (I think), green, and yellow - for $20.  I already have the yellow, but I couldn't pass it up, considering one polish retails for $14 ($11.20 with the Maven discount).

February Nail Art Challenge Day 9

Holy cow, the February Nail Art Challenge is coming to a close already :(  Where has the time gone?!  I want to send out a big congratulations to all the girls who participated in the Challenge, you all did awesome!!

Today's theme is Recreate Your Favourite.  The idea is to either a) recreate a design from the rest of the days of the Challenge that you want to do-over or because it was your favourite to do, or b) recreate a design that one of the other participants did.  A couple girls asked if they wanted to recreate their tutorial day, could they use a different tutorial.  I decided that this would be OK, as I know there are so many wonderful tutorials out there!

NOTD: butter LONDON Slapper

(In Ty Pennington voice) HELLO FELLOW POLISHERS!  We had a heavy frost and ice this morning when I woke up!  I had to scrape it off my car before I left for work.  That is the only thing I hate about winter, but that means that it's COMING!!! :D  WOOHOO!  However, I almost broke off 3 of my nails in the process of scraping.. I was ready to be upset about it, but they are all still intact :D  Winter is the worst time for me to grow out my nails.  With the cold temperatures we commonly get, usually between -10°C to -20°C and lower (14°F to -4°F and lower for my American readers :D ), add in the windchill of a few extra degrees, my nails like to become extremely brittle and break off unexpectantly.  So be prepared for some shorter nails around here during the 6 months of winter we tend to have.

Anywho, I pulled this out of the archive because I was feeling crummy last night and though I took my Go Pink Wednesday nails off last night, I didn't have the energy to get them repainted again, and polish fumes mixed with a nauseating migraine = BAD MIX!  So I spent some quality time with my nails and gave them some desperately needed TLC :)  I slathered on the hand lotion, put on some of Sunny's Miracle Balm (lilac and lilies scent) and topped it off with some Julep Cuticle Oil.  I could hear them singing when I woke up this morning, they were so happy! :D  Then when I stepped out in the cold the started shivering and aren't so happy with me anymore :(

Today I have for you my butter LONDON Slapper polish.  You will remember that I got this from Nail Polish Canada a while back, and I did try it right away, but I'm pretty sure it was just before the Nail Challenge, so I didn't get a chance to post it.

I love this colour!  It's is perfect.  It's bold, it's creamy, it's just down-right beautiful!  I am so glad I went with Slapper as the colour in my butter LONDON kit that I ordered.

This is 2 coats of Slapper.  It's a touch more green than what shows in the picture, my camera didn't seem to want to capture the colour in all its glory :(

I highly recommend this colour, and butter LONDON polish if you don't have one yet.  However, that being said, I will never pay retail for butter LONDON which retails on Nail Polish Canada for (a whopping) $17 per bottle.  That is way to much for me to justify spending on a polish.  For that kind of money I want the polish to paint itself onto my nails!  So this may end up being my only butter LONDON polish ever, but I would be totally OK with that, look at the colour!! :D

Now, I will also include a quick review of the Nail Foundation base coat and P.D. Quick Hardware Top Coat I got in the kit as well, as I used it for this mani.

The Nail Foundation is a blush coloured base coat that dries matte on the nail.  It dried pretty quick, so I didn't have to do a whole lot of waiting before I could put the polish on.  I don't see anything wrong with this base coat, but again, it's a little pricey for me at $22 per bottle so I won't be buying it for retail.

The P.D. Quick Hardware Top Coat is ah-may-zing!  I put it on and seriously, within about 5 minutes, my nails were completely dry!  It was awesome, I would definitely recommend it to those of you who are always on the go and need their polish to dry P.D.Q..  I will be using this sparingly though, as I don't want to spend $22 on a new bottle.

What do you guys think of Slapper?  Do you have this amazing colour??

WalMart Nail Haul

Hey happy polishers :)  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  My "camping trip" was.. wet.  It rained from Friday when we got there until this morning :(  We didn't end up staying in the tent, we slept on an air mattress in the living room of the cottage we were at, only to find it deflated over night :(  There was a little hole in it that we found when we got home today.  It was good to spend time away with friends though, so in the end it was worth it :)

Anywho, I have for you today my haul from WalMart that I got last weekend.  I went shopping for shoes (I had a coupon that was going to expire and that would never do!) and ended up bringing home polish.. go figure! :P

Let's look at what I got :D

Left to Right:
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Snappy Sorbet, Mint Sprint, Brisk Blue
Revlon Top Speed Fire
PRO-FX Fiberized Ridge Filler
Let's start with the Sally Hansen Insta-Dris, shall we :)  This is the first time I have purchased these, but I have read that they are really good for stamping, so I thought I would give them a shot :)  Again, I tried to pick colours that I don't have something already close to in my collection.

This is a coral-y colour and I think this would look great with Zoya Irene :)

This is a really nice teal-y colour, I can't wait to try stamping this on white and black :)

I like that this colour is vibrant :)  Again, this is one that I want to try stamping over white!

So I didn't own a red in my collection... yes seriously, I didn't own a single real red!  I had a coupon for Revlon and I used it to buy this colour :D

Now, this is the best deal on polish I have found in a while (besides Julep's Intro Box for $0.01!).  75mL of base coats and top coats for less than $5.00 at WalMart!!!  Holy cow!  So I got the ridge filler.  I don't have a ridge filler, and I have never tried this brand before, so I thought I would give it a try.  They also didn't have any quick dry top coat left which is what I will be looking for every time I am in WalMart now :D

And just for a comparison, this is the Pro-FX ridge filler beside a full-sized OPI polish :)

Have you had any good WalMart/department store hauls lately?  It's amazing what you can find out there sometimes :D

NOTD: 365 Days of Color Darya

Hey everybody!  Did everyone enjoy their day off work??  I know I did!  I did my nails early this morning in the lovely morning sunshine.  Then Tyler dragged me to the gym earlier this afternoon .. which kinda sicked because the gym we go to is kinda ghetto and doesn't have A/C, so you sweat from body parts you don't realize can sweat...  (Sorry for the visual!)

Anywho, today I have for you Darya from 365 Days of Color.  This was a complete surprise polish for me, Sunny included this in my order that I received last week, check out the haul here.

I decided because this is a glitter in a completely clear base I would try it over both white and black to see what it looked like over both!

Darya is a stunning teal/aquamarine glitter with large and small square glitters in a completely clear base so it doesn't effect the colour you put it over.  I like this because you don't have to "coordinate" the polish colour with the glitter polish base colour, it will look great over anything!

I don't know if I prefer it over white or black, I think both combinations look great!  You can see the smaller glitter better with the white background, but on the black it looks like a really starry night sky :D

If you can get your hands on this glitter, I highly recommend you do it.  I checked when I discovered that Sunny included this with my order and it isn't in her shop, so I'm not sure if it's "up and coming" or if it's from an older, discontinued collection.  Sunny, if you sent this to me for review, thank you so much for the opportunity and I would love to do reviews for your polish any time! ;D

*EDIT*  Sunny confirmed that Darya is from a discontinued collection, so it might be hard to find.

NOTD: Julep Megan

Happy Sunday!  Who's ready for work tomorrow?  Yeah, me neither!  LOL!

I have for you Julep Megan today.  This is another colour I got in my August Mystery Box.  This colour was a lot more sheer than I was expecting, so I was a little worried when I put the first coat on, but it all worked out in the end.  These pictures are with 3 coats of Megan.  It is more green than it shows in these pictures, more like a mermaid's tail :)

I think that this would be a great base colour for nail art, or a great colour to use in nail art.  I will have to try it out soon :)

Do you have this colour?
